Work for DCS


All vacancies for the Dallas County School System (teaching, administrative, classified, secretarial, custodial, etc.) are posted on the Alabama State Department of Education's Teach in Alabama website. To apply for any position, you must have a current application on ALSDE Teach in Alabama and apply for relevant jobs.  HCS posts certified, classified, and administrative positions:
Administrative Positions
Administrative Positions are certified positions such as principal, assistant principal, or other similar positions.   

Certified Positions
Certified positions are jobs that require teacher certification (examples include teachers, counselors, therapists, etc).  If you are applying for a certified position, make sure to include a copy of your college transcripts and your current resume in your application to Teach in Alabama.

Classified Positions
Classified positions are jobs that do not require a teaching certificate.  Examples include maintenance, child nutrition, clerical, support aides, bus drivers, substitute teachers, and other support staff. To apply for these positions, complete your application on Teach in Alabama and apply for relevant job postings. 


Complete applications include a total of three references that have been RETURNED electronically on the Teach in Alabama website.

  • A valid email address for each of your references must be included.
  • Completed references should include two professional references from a previous supervisor or employer and one character reference.
  • References that are more than 3 years old will not be accepted. 

In addition to references, Dallas County Schools requires the following attachments for all certified and classified applicants upon recommendation for employment:

Copy of driver’s license or valid picture ID
Copy of social security card
Copy of teaching certificate (Alabama or out-of-state) if applicable
Unofficial transcripts indicating all coursework and degree conferral date from regionally accredited colleges/universities

Copy of driver’s license or valid picture ID

Copy of high school diploma or equivalent, if applicable
Unofficial transcripts indicating all coursework from regionally accredited colleges/universities, if applicable

Current Employees
Current employees who are interested in applying for various postings should follow the directions above or submit a letter of interest via Email to Robert Dolbare before the job closes or any other applicable application deadlines.  
If an administrator or supervisor requests to interview an applicant, they will contact the applicant directly.  If an applicant is recommended for hire, other documentation may be required including original transcripts, proper identification, Social Security Card, and proof of background clearance.
