Southside High School wins 'Best Hustle Award' for FAFSA completion

Southside High School in Selma has won a "Best Hustle Award" for improving its early completion for Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA.
The award was given by Alabama Possible, a nonprofit that coordinated the Alabama Goes to College campaign to help students going to postsecondary education.
Schools obtain grants, loans, and work-study programs by completing FAFSA. Many students throughout Alabama qualify for Pell Grants of up to $6,345 per year after
Southside High School received the award after being noted for completing FAFSA early, which is completion at least 10% between 2019 and 2020.
Southside High School completed 67.35% compared to 2019.
“During these unprecedented times, we must not lose sight of the importance of equipping students with tools and resources for a postsecondary pathway,” said Alabama Possible Executive Director Chandra Scott.
“We are encouraged by the number of schools that continue to assist their students in early FAFSA completion and we congratulate them on being recipients of the Best Hustle Award.”
