Eight Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) Cadets from Southside High School recently returned for the Alabama Junior ROTC Leadership Challenge (JCLC) Camp held May 29 - 2 June 2017 at Ft. McClellan, AL. From left, LtC Steve Ruiz, Senior Aerospace Science Instructor; Rod'Keiro Pullom, Kierra Weaver, Alyssa Thicklin, Tiara Purifoy, Tamara Minor, Keyonnah Weaver, Marquis Smiley, Keundrik Peterson and SMSgt Alex Medina, Aerospace Science Instructor. During their camp, cadets rappelled down a 35-foot tower, successfully learned Land Navigation skills, worked as a team to complete overcome physical obstacles at the Leadership Reaction Course, and were trained how to save themselves and others during Water Safety Training. Each evening cadets competed in intramural sports as well, with several cadets earning medals in their events. Rod'Keiro Pullom was the only cadet to recieve an end-of-camp honor, Most Spirited Cadet in Platoon. All cadets will be presented their Rappel and JCLC Arc Pins as well as their Leadership School Ribbons when they return for the coming school year.
