Applications are being accepted by the Dallas County Board of Education beginning March 13 – 19, 2008 for the following position:

12 Month Position Location 2 -Buildings and Grounds Custodian – 8 hours daily System-wide


Job Description: Performance Responsibilities:
1) Performs manual labor such as mowing grass, maintaining shrubs and grounds, moving furniture, painting, and other maintenance and custodian related functions
2) Maintains care of equipment and materials
3) Deliver materials and supplies to job sites
4) Displays personal conduct which sets an example for students to emulate
5) Performs other duties as required
Minimum Requirements:
1) Good physical health and ability to lift heavy objects
2) Ability to understand and follow instructions
3) Have a valid State of Alabama driver license
4) Ability to read and write
5) Have some knowledge of applicable trades

Salary: Based on current salary schedule
Starting Date: March 31, 2008

This information sheet is designed to assist you in filling out your application. Should you have unanswered questions or concerns please contact the Dallas County Board of Education.

 Personal Information:   Please make certain you provide a permanent address maybe a relative if you anticipate a change in residence within the next year.  It is your responsibility to notify the Dallas County Board of Education of any changes of address or telephone number in writing.

 Position Desired:  Please check the grade/level/ subject(s) you wish to teach.

 Educational Experience:  Report in chronological order beginning with the most recent position all full-time teaching and administrative experience including teaching in accredited colleges.  Report work as a substitute teacher under “Other Work Experience”.

 Professional Preparation:  Please include graduate hours above current degree awarded.  Applicants with less than three years teaching experience are required to fill in the student teaching section.

 Certification:  It is your responsibility to secure and forward to this office a copy of your Alabama teacher's certificate.  Applicants graduating from institutions outside the state of Alabama should complete Form Supplement CER and forward it with all other required credentials to the Alabama State Department of Education Teacher Education and Certification Office 5201 Gordon Persons Building P.O.   Box 302101 Montgomery AL 36130-2101 .  The Supplement CER Form can be obtained from the Dallas County Board of Education. 

 Professional References:  No application is complete until three (3) references are on file.  Beginning teachers are urged to use college/university placement files containing references from supervising teachers college supervisors and/or professors.  Please remember that it is the applicant's responsibility to request that the placement file be mailed to our office.

Experienced teachers should send references to present and former principals and/or supervisors.  Unless there are mitigating circumstances applications from experienced teachers will not be considered complete unless references are received from current and prior principals and/or supervisors.

Three references must be on file in this office before an interview session can be scheduled.

 Autobiography:  Self Explanatory

 Personal Interview:  Completed application files are reviewed to determine which applicants will be contacted for interviews.  Interviews are set up as vacancies occur in the school system.  The applicant will be notified by the Superintendent's office in order to set up an interview.  A personal interview is an essential part of the teacher selection process although it is no guarantee of a job.  You should keep in mind that usually several applicants are interviewed for each vacancy in the school system.

 Transcripts:  Official transcript(s) of college/university coursework must be on file in order for your application to be complete.

 Photograph or Snapshot:  Although not required a photograph or snapshot included in the application would be appreciated.

 Background Clearance:  Required for all applicants who have not been fingerprinted through a college or university.
